The first half of
Looper was not too bad. The makeup effects used to make JGL look like Bruce Willis were a hoot, and the
Blade Runner-lite vision of the crumbling future was effective. Of course, the time travel stuff didn't make sense at all, even within the movie itself, unfortunately, but then the girl shows up, and the whole thing gets exceptionally boring. The atmosphere and the potential evaporate, and then
Looper disintegrates into an obvious, and obviously pointless, exercise. It seems like a waste, because if they had managed to actually make more than half a movie--and worked from a script that made more sense--it could have been okay.
