A Woman's Expectations Run From Both Ends Of The Range

Obama, what a bastard!  But, really?  The inflammation of outrage seemed odd, out of place, or at least a waste of good indignation, considering our overall political and social situation in the United States in 2013.  (Did I just do that?  Was I that girl?  Did I contend that I could choose what other individuals should find offensive or problematic?  You betcha!)  Probably, as a general rule, highly-placed elected officials should not indulge in the sort of comment Obama made toward Kamala Harris.  Is it harmless?  No, probably not completely harmless, as nothing an American president says in public is completely harmless, but I think the folks like Amanda Marcotte should have been/should be more focused on the long game, the big deal, and not the gotcha sexism they played against Obama.  Cuz, like, Obama sucks, but his stupid comment is not anywhere near the top of his suckiness.  And yes, I understand that feminists and others can focus on two or more things at once.  It's just that the constant small-ball bullshit only makes it easier to cut Social Security, murder indiscriminately with drones, and not be fucking decent human beings with regards to women's reproductive choice and health.  My personal instinct was to let the comment go with little more than a mention and worry about the (more) important stuff.  Opinions.  Everyone's.  Anyway, Irin Carmon, yes, her, was properly indignant (pissed off) in my estimation and as such did an excellent job conflating the personal and political with regards to the situation, so good for her.  The fact that Ms. Carmon, a real rising star in the pundit class, has probably been among the best looking women in every room she's been in just sorta' makes it more interesting.  Obama fucked up; he's got an issue.  Lots of men do.  We've got bigger problems now, though.
