Ruh-Roh: Watch That Aluminum Racing Bike, Chief

Aluminum refining has always been a horribly polluting and energy-intensive process; given the properties of refined aluminum we are stuck with it everywhere, not just racing bike frames.  FireDogLake has an interesting post today about a new movie, The Age of Aluminum, concerned with the possible toxic and other environmental effects of aluminum.  Despite the ubiquity of carbon racing frames, aluminum ain't going anywhere, and we would be well-served by a jump start in related research.  I guess you better buy that fucking Gaulzetti before it gives you cancer.
