Ruh-Roh: The New Kona Process Plastic Frames Are Frakking Ugly
The new generation of Kona Karbon frames, with the fully plastic rear end as seen on the new plastic Process (PP) 134, are here, and oh my gods, they are awful. Kona is gonna get their lunch eaten every fucking day of the week by Transition's amazing new plastic frame design. When the new Patrol comes out and looks like the new Scout and Sentinel, the Process 153 will be dead, and that is too bad because apparently Kona is sticking with the 66° head angle and much shorter chainstays than the current fad, both good things for any bike, especially a medium-long travel 29er.
But the frame is fucking grotesque. Those Kurvy Kona Karbon (KKK) Process Plastic (PP) tubes are awful, graceless and ungainly, when compared with the handsome new Transition design. And that gaping hole on the right side of the head tube so that a moto-style brake setup will work is inexcusable. Who cares if the geometry of the Process is better when the bike is that fucking ugly. The new 153 with the plastic chainstays and new Kona Karbon frame aesthetic surely is going to be a homely turd. Transition got it almost perfect with the look of their new bikes, and Kona could hardly have fucked it up any worse. This new Kona bike looks cheap and half-finshed. Sad.
