over oversized lugs and max on the sax

is this the only free-range sax max-lugged frame out there?  if so, it is a rare beast for many disparate reasons; the internets don't spew up much besides this one.  it's pretty neato though.  a clearcoat thing mighta worked well on this one; the construction on the raw frame is sano, and the orange is great for a late-90's vibe.  i'm not a huge fan of the plastic enve fork on a steel frame, even if some of the illuminati preach that a proper custom steel fork would be overkill in this application.  it looks okay painted on the big frame.  i dig the dropouts, too, even though i usually prefer 1010b's.  i'd like to see some of these frames with the proprietary sachs fork crown and blades.  will these over oversized tubes become the new lugged standard?  bullshit or not? and whatnot.

  1. Is Goodrich still in business?? Nice bike no matter what. Tubes don't look that big.

    1. thanks for the comment.

i guess some are getting their goodrich frames. i don't know the ins 'n outs, but apparently it was/is a big-ass mess.

the big tubes are sweet on this pretty big frame. maybe the next year or so will see some of these big tubes out there on the road.

  2. There is a new Zank posted on VS. UOS and steel fork. Only neg is strait blade fork. 30.6 seat post won't be fun for awhile.

    1. thanks for the tip. i'll check it out.

regarding the post, looking at this orange goodrich frame, that looks like a smaller post--does that enve post come in the 30.4 or 30.6 or whatever it would take?--so maybe it is shimmed. that would not be my first choice; i've never had good luck with shims, and on a nice lugged frame it would kinda suck. if you could get an oos seattube that would use 27.2, that would be loverly.

yeah, it's straight-bladed, but that fork on that frame is wicked sano.

    1. i'm not curt goodrich(!!) but i will do the lords' work and say that orange is bomber orange metallic. and even if it's not bomber orange metallic, bomber orange metallic is the supreme overlord of all oranges. if you have a bomber orange metallic bike, you are very happy with your bike's color.

  4. Looks great. And that UZZI, geez, haven't seen nor thought of one in ages. Was state of the art in its day.

    Thanks again. Cheers!

    1. absolutely. the intense uzzi sl was the best all-mountain bike of its era. it was beyond state of the art. nothing was as active as that horst link suspension, and combined with all the intense improvements and a 5" marzocchi fork, the bike was incredible. they literally don't make 'em like that anymore, but now the big-brand full suspension bikes work well at lots of price points.
