Lu Edmonds Said John Lydon Was One Of The Few People In The Music Business Who Didn't Try To Screw Over His Bandmates

John Lydon is surely a silly old Tory twat.  Y'all shoulda noticed that back in '77.  And now he's apparently the caregiver for his wife who is very ill.  That must suck.  Lydon is fortunate he is able to do this for her without worrying about money the way most folks would.  None of it excuses him being a conservative dope.  But Lu Edmonds, who played on and had writing credits for PiL's Happy? album but was unable to play on 9 due to tinnitus, said that Lydon made sure Edmonds received his writing credit and got the royalties for his work on that second album at a time when he was in a bad place physically and mentally.  Lydon clearly could have screwed Edmonds over and kept that money for himself, but he didn't.  Is Johnny Rotten a foolish reactionary cunt in 2020?  Surely.  Is Steven Morrissey?  Roger Daltrey?  You should know the answer.  And you should not be surprised.

For what it's worth, Lu Edmonds has been the guitar player+ in the PiL lineup since 2012, playing on the two albums from the band in this period.

Fun Recycled Andy Rourke Interview

The Daily Beast is generally awful, but this piece of filler is pretty fun.  Rourke sounds like he has his shit together at last, and Morrissey was clearly an insufferable ass since day one.  Stiffing the other guys on the money is especially ugly.  The only way to run a band is equal shares for everyone: share royalties and performance and tour earnings and expenses equally.  The post-Smiths years have proven that Morrissey and Marr were never as good without Rourke and Joyce; it was kinda a major fuck-up to kill that cash cow so quickly.  This is an interesting comparison with the way John Lydon treats the people he works with; Lydon cultivated this character of a snotty, insufferable asshole but was honest and fair, while Morrissey really was a snotty, insufferable asshole.

The Electric Saz Makes An Appearance With PiL

Lu Edmonds wips out his electric saz for the probably-mostly-clueless Glastonbury crowd.  Very cool version of "This Is Not A Love Song", though.  This PiL is a testament that Rotten is actually a decent guy under all that carrying on, crypto-Tory fucktardery, and other assorted blustery bullshit.

Lu Edmonds On Guitar With PiL

Renaissance madman shredding on the ole 6-string with Public Image Limited on tee vee in 2010, bringing back the old days.  Frankly, the most interesting about PiL these years is Lu Edmonds, and it is wicked cool to see him rocking out.  He's had quite the interesting music career.
