There's no way this kid giving her mom $1800 from her savings would stop her from going to Barnard when she must be on a full financial aid package. Something is fucking wrong with this whole thing.
What we know:
The girl apparently lives with her sister.
She goes to some bullshit charter school in Houston.
She got into Barnard early.
She got financial aid from Barnard.
She had to give up her "college savings" to save her mom from being evicted, BUT THAT SUM IS ONLY $1800. Not $180,000. $1800.
Barnard "can't" modify her FA even though her mother lost her job last year and maybe didn't have a job when they filled out the FA forms.
WHAT??
Who else was supposed to be contributing to this kids bill?
She's now raised $150k or so on GoFundMe.
But how much could her mother have been contributing to her Barnard fees? $1800 is a rounding error on the cost of four years at Barnard, and this girl had to have been on full FA, so there's no fucking way giving up less than two grand would have prevented her from attending Barnard.
Unless there is something they are not telling us, this whole story is fucking bullshit, and the GFM is a fucking scam.
The only good thing is that all this money she's getting will go straight to Barnard, a wealthy college who should shard no tution at all in reality, in place of previously awarded FA, so she won't get any of it to spend on a giant BMW or anyting.
