malarial priorities

occasionally you see something that should alter your perspective, and this is one, from daily kos, believe it or  not.  obviously, that is not the only place to find discussions about diseases and shit, but...our country, the united states, the richest, most powerful and influential national entity in the history of the known universe, with its disgusting military spending and rampant imperial violence, could have chosen different priorities in the past, and the state of civilization across the planet could have been completely transformed.  our nation, our priorities and our conduct are all choices that someone made, not at all mandatory or ordained, and when billions live in abject poverty and die without access to even the most basic medicines, we can see the outcomes of our cultural decisions in living color.
