poverty in america

a lot has been said about the state of poverty in america.  the wealth inequality is obviously strangling the economy and the country, making the recession a permanent crippling to huge numbers of people who will now work until the day they die.  and it's been going on for two generations now.  no gains for most of the population.  no expansion of happiness, or liberty or life, all so that the worst of america could wrap their claws around as much of the world as possible and ensure their personal paradise amidst a smoldering hell for everyone else.  this piece from john cassidy on the new yorker site is pretty good, but the money shot comes at the end where it belongs.  it was absolutely somebody's fault.  it was the plan all along.  good for cassidy for realizing that he was wrong and being willing to see the truth.
