intense uzzi xc

so long ago, the uzzi xc was intense's cross-country trail bike, sort of a weakling older brother of the uzzi sl.  supposedly using the same main triangle as the uzzi sl, the xc was the bike when 3 inches of front and rear travel seemed like a lot, and a marzocchi z-1 was a huge 100mm-travel downhill fork.  at the time, most of the riders who had full-suspension bikes rode either super-v's (good) or proflex's (horrible), so maybe the uzzi xc was a reasonable choice if you had the coin and the better-in-every-way uzzi sl wasn't out yet.

  1. I actually own an uzzi xc and have really enjoyed the bike. the geometry just works for me. But ... the rear shock has finally died and I am trying to figure out how to replace it or repair it.. At this point I cant even figure out what it is (i.e who made it, model, etc) Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. I can be reached at pmkelley55@yahoo.com

    1. your best bet is to find a bike shop that has sold a boatload of full suspension frames for at least 20 years and have them dig through--and by that i mean you will have to do the work--their stash of old shocks till you find one that fits.

your next chance might be to find a company that makes shocks and see if they have one that fits your uzzi xc in their box of misfit shocks.

last and best idea is to test ride some new 2015 bikes and see if any of them tickle your fancy. plenty of new technology and design stuff has happened since the uzzi xc was new, and today's full suspension bikes work great for lots of folks.
