Huge Mistake For Bernie To Abandon Zephyr Teachout And Apologize To Biden, Unless...

Unless the Sanders campaign knows that Biden is about to get blown out of the race in Iowa, obviating the need to attack him.  This is Bernie's worst trait, though, his inherent decency.  Stand strong.  Crush your enemies.  (And yes, I know why Bernie probably did this shit, after Warren lied about him and Biden lied about him, he's being the better man, yada yada yada.  But this is not how you beat the right-wing establishment.)  Biden is fucking scum, corrupt as hell, and Zephyr Teachout is completely correct.  Bernie needs to stand strong until we know Biden is dead.  This is a link to the original op-ed in The Guardian, and here is a copy pasta of the Bern Notice sent out this morning by David Sirota:

BERN NOTICE: "Joe Biden Has A Big Corruption Problem"

In a new oped, anti-corruption expert Zephyr Teachout says "we don’t have to choose Biden’s way, which would give Trump a perfect foil."

Anti-corruption crusader and Bernie endorser/surrogate Zephyr Teachout has just published a new oped this morning arguing that Joe Biden’s record on corruption would make him a dangerously weak nominee against Donald Trump. The oped looks at Biden raking in cash from donors in different industries, and then doing the bidding of those donors. In one passage, she asks “When he pushed for cuts to Social Security, was he serving donors or his constituents?”
Here’s a key excerpt:
Some think nominating Joe Biden, a moderate white man who calls himself “Middle Class” Joe, makes sense. But Biden has a big corruption problem and it makes him a weak candidate. I know it seems crazy, but a lot of the voters we need – independents and people who might stay home – will look at Biden and Trump and say: “They’re all dirty.”
It looks like “Middle Class” Joe has perfected the art of taking big contributions, then representing his corporate donors at the cost of middle- and working-class Americans. Converting campaign contributions into legislative favors and policy positions isn’t being “moderate”. It is the kind of transactional politics Americans have come to loathe…
Nominating a candidate like Biden will make it far more difficult to defeat Trump. It will allow Trump to muddy the water, to once again pretend he is the one “draining the swamp”, running against Washington culture…
We don’t have to choose Biden’s way, which would give Trump a perfect foil. The 2020 election should be about a crystal clear contrast between truth and lies, corruption and integrity, compassion and cruelty. We have a rare opportunity to end a larger culture of corruption and we should take it – we will regret it if we don’t.

Sirota
