If Sanders loses the primary, tonight's completely unwarranted apology to Biden was the ultimate reason. Something seems so off about it, so wrong, such an unnecessary mistake, that I can't help think it is Sanders' final, tragic miscalculation, the one that costs him everything. For no good reason.
Yes, this is a very online freakout that might not even make it out to the civilian Iowa caucus zeitgeist, and the Sanders campaign may have some polling and other data that tell them Biden's campaign is already over, and that now what they need most to win is to secure the support of all the sad old senile conservative shitbrains supporting Biden and Warren and the rest of the clown show because the clown show is essentially over, and Sanders is on the cusp of winning the race.
Fine. But this was such an ugly unforced error, otherwise. They sure as shit better have some secret info. And I don't fucking trust any political campaign to win when it looks like it is losing. After tonight, Sanders suddenly looks like a loser. Sanders is not a perfect politician even if he is the best in the race this year. And he didn't do everything he could to win the race and destroy the vile Hillary Clinton four years ago. Is he at the it again? The failure to defend one of your best supporters, Zephyr Teachout, is a very bad look. Even Dave Weigel can see that! And he's a libertarian boy who worked for the Fonzie of Freedom and wearer of the world's worst rug Nick Gillespie at "Reason" magazine before parking his Ignatius J. Reilly-cosplay self at the Bezos Post.
Teachout was right on this, and Sanders is wrong. Nobody lied about Biden. Biden is corrupt as fuck and always has been. He will cut Social Security if he can because that has always been his goal. Biden is a gross, right-wing racist asshole. It doesn't fucking matter if he is anyone's friend. He needs to be beaten bloody and sent to the old neolib's home forever. Suddenly it seems that Sanders truly might not understand any of this. That is what it looks like tonight. I would be thrilled to be proven wrong.
