Dave Lindorff And The Social Security Party
Good idea: a single-issue third party focusing on the future of Social Security/Medicare. Over on CounterPunch, Dave Lindorff has a nice thought experiment about how such a focused political party could make an important dent in the intractable one-party state, with two corporatist, rock-ribbed right wing parties, one following Obama's model and one make up of fucking lunatic teabagging assholes. That would be quite a thing, because Social Security and Medicare are indeed very popular, and that popularity transcends the Democratic/Republican inanity. This is one of the best ideas for the activist class to pursue. My question: where will the energy and work come from?
