Trump and Pelosi and Schumer and Biden are not up to this task. Conservatives are hopelessly stupid and useless, while the Dems are vile neolibs, and far more dangerously conservative than teabagging idiots in and out of the GOP. Business need to stop laying people off and cutting hours--this should have been immediate, before any injections of cash into the financial markets or any business bailouts. Top priority should have been, and must be, maintain incomes and HEALTH INSURANCE! The government can pay the business who are paying their workers. After 1 May, they can transition to a high-percentage, universal unemployment program for people not working at their jobs due to the pandemic. Suspension of utility and other bills should be mandatory as well. Mortgages and rents and insurance payments either suspended or cut by 90% for the duration with no penalties or interest charged. All of this shit is possible, but unless it happens very quickly, everyone is going to be wicked fucked. None of this means testing bullshit or tax rebates or anything. Get the cash into EVERYONE'S hands and keep it coming until employment and spending return to sustainable levels.
But if they wait at all, it will be too late.
