'Hunters' Is A Fun Show, Not Great, But Mild Comedy Fun
Hunters is okay. It's not a great show, and it is way too PG for the subject matter, but it has an overenthusiastic-high-school-dinner-theatre-production-of-a-Quentin Tarantino-fanfic-script type of charm working for it. Hunters definitely could have been one of the fake trailers in Grindhouse, but no way would it have been as good as Machete or Hobo With A Shotgun. The show is not exactly smart, and the characters are almost as dumb as the impossible ages of most of them for a show set in WWII and 1977. The violence is also way too mild for a show about killing fucking Nazis, but the ten episodes are peppered with enough trolling to drive the actual Nazis in America in 2020 fucking nuts. That's something. Add in some generous scenery chewing and a shitload of maudlin ham-n-cheese that would even choke Paul Giamatti and you get a decent family fun cartoon about killing Nazis. I look forward to sequel set in 2025 called Hunters: Occupation featuring the slaughter of Israeli war criminals by Palestinian hunters.
