If you were old enough to vote in 1988 and did not vote for Jesse Jackson, you are the fucking problem, not the teabaggers.  Ryan Grim might be too taken with The Snake, but he's right about Jackson.  The story of Jackson and Sanders is a warning that the United States in 2020 is indeed our fucking fault.  We had the chance to do better and instead had Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump, all vile right-wing monsters.  We did that.
