Virag's Movie Reviews: The Avengers (2012)

Not bad, considering the epic shit show it could have been.  The method seemed to be put everyone in a cute scene with Robert Downey Jr.  The story was not really that great; it was pretty much a generic action script.  Nope, this was about Joss Whedon's personal dialog-writing style, with everything else being strictly by rote.  Ruffalo was well-cast and fit right in with the Iron Man and Friends philosophy.  The only thing that was really dumb was a flying aircraft carrier that could be crippled with an arrow and seemed to lack any locked doors.  I mean, a flying suit of armor with an unlimited power supply is one thing.  A wormhole to deep space is another.  But that helicarrier was just silly.  A few locked doors, a few armed soldiers, and a decent traffic control that prevents unauthorized approaches probably woulda made a bit more sense. Crippled by an arrow?  Just dumb.  That stupid fucking thing made SkyDiver look like Arthur C. Clark's space elevator.
