Ebert And Ebert's Political Writing
Surprisingly enough, I was never that much of a fan of the late Roger Ebert's film criticism--and I love everything, go figure!--because he often missed obvious points of individual films and seemed to playing dumb for personal pique and/or gave tremendous credit to otherwise banal films and filmmakers. I did kinda dig his political writing, not because he was some sort of modern giant, but because he was one, a good writer, and two, took the opportunity of his platform to exercise his right to political expression. I always thought that was cool. This is an older interview with Mr. Ebert, but it gives you an idea of what he was about. As someone once said, cancer is a motherfucker.
