this is another fuso max
bike, red this time. how many of these fuso max frames were there?
was every fuso a max frame? of course not, but there was more than
one! i'm not loving the custom stem on this one. or the half-chrome
style, but the horizontal dropouts are proper. and i don't think i
agree with the aesthetic decisions made regarding the max head lugs, but
it is a cool, and probably rare, instance of utilizing the original
columbus max tubing on a lugged road frame by a classic frame builder.
here are a couple of quick saab stories:
the globe and mail and a quickie from
the independent.
though the concept lived in on bikes that were so much better, my initial test-rides on the various amp research
bikes were scary, sloppy affairs. the wiggly, broken impression you
got from the rear-center on those things made me want turn around each
and every time. (hopelessly weird fork, too--kinda like the halson inversion,
you knew this was not gonna stick in the wider market.) for years i
would see one on the trails a couple of times each season and find
myself amazed that those bikes worked really well for some riders.
interesting, useful idea with horrible execution. that's probably why
they sold out to specialized.
is al gore tv is intent on
blowing itself up
during some of the most entertaining weeks of the year? it makes no
sense to let the farm team handle the election night comedy, especially
if it is over quickly after a romney win. the conservative droolers
across the interwebs are atwitter with speculation that olbermann is
going to bail on al gore or vice versa, but it seems like gore and the
rest of his boobs are not really interested in winning a very long game;
the
jennifer granholm tv
experiment does not bode well for the long-term health of gore's tv
ambitions. it seems gore can't stand to employ any person, especially a
former elected official, who is not as big a dud as he is. eliot
spitzer? yes. granholm? no.
